The Polaris Sculpture
Fairbanks, Alaska an abstract piece developed in 2014. The hexagonal shapes of the spires resemble ice crystals, with the lights meant to mirror the northern lights. The quartz-like shapes will also give a nod back to the Gold Rush, while the sleek design is meant to offer a hint of the future. By British Columbia artists Cheryl Hamilton and Michael Vandermeer
